The Greek Athletics Championships (Greek: Πανελλήνιο πρωτάθλημα στίβου) is an annual track and field competition which serves as the national championship for Greece. It is organised by the Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association, Greece's national governing body for the sport of athletics. The winner of each event at the championships is declared the national champion for that year. The men's and women's championships are contested separately, with the men's championships first being held in 1896 and the women's in 1930. Greek Cypriot athletes frequently compete at the championships and there have been several Cypriot winners.[1]
The 1996 championships was held as a road event.
