The archdeacons in the Church of England are senior Anglican clergy who serve under their dioceses' bishops, usually with responsibility for the area's church buildings and pastoral care for clergy. As of 25 November 2024[update], there are 131 archdeacons (including vacancies): four archdeacons hold two archdeaconries each, while six hold no territorial archdeaconry.

Resignations and retirements
[edit]- ^ Jeans has announced his intention to retire in July 2025.[3]
- ^ Allain Chapman is to resign her archdeaconry and become a theological college tutor; she takes up the latter role on 11 August 2025.[10]
- ^ Chamberlain is to become Bishop of Wakefield on his consecrated, scheduled for 11 June 2025.[18]
- ^ MacRow-Wood has announced his intention to retire in June 2025.[3]
- ^ Kiddle has announced his intention to retire effective 30 June 2025;[36] he is to be succeeded by Bridget Shepherd.[37]
- ^ Astin is to be consecrated Bishop suffragan of Crediton on 6 July 2025.[54]
- ^ Worsford has been appointed Area Dean of Salford and Leigh, from a date yet to be announced.[75]
- ^ Hamblin has announced her intention to retire in September 2025.[168]
