Joseph Brooks	2011	American screenwriter, director, producer, and composer known for the song "You Light Up My Life"[82] Brooks had been indicted on multiple rape and sexual assault allegations, but died by suicide before he could be tried. The day after Brooks' death, the medical examiner ruled that Brooks had killed himself, citing asphyxia,[83] he was facing sexual assault charges.[84]
Jürgen Brümmer	2014	German Olympic gymnast (1988), jumping from the Körsch Viaduct,[85] Shortly afterwards, his 15-year-old son, who was in need of ongoing care since an accident two years before, was found dead in his home, evidently having been suffocated by Brümmer.[86][87][88]

Chris Cornell	2017	American musician, singer and songwriter (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog), hanging after performance,[124] suffered from depression, anxiety, and drug addiction. Prescription drugs at therapeutic doses were found in his system.
John Coughlin	2019	American figure skater,[125] hanging,[126] was accused of sexual assault, and was accused by more women after his death
Julee Cruise	2022	American musician.[127] She struggled with lupus, depression and alcohol and drug addiction.[128]

Antonio Calvo	2011	Senior lecturer in Spanish at Princeton University, cut his throat and arms.[130] He died by suicide after being either suspended from the university, or having his employment contract abruptly terminated, as this meant that he would lose his residence visa and possibly face deportation.
Chen Gang	2011	Chinese university lecturer, jumping.[131] He died by suicide after losing to a rival, which he attributed to corruption in the university.

Christopher Dorner	2013	American police officer, suicide by gunshot in Angelus Oaks, California,[139] after killing his former colleagues. He allegedly committed the act in retaliation against his former workplace, after being fired for reporting excessive force

Edward Downes	2009	English conductor, assisted double suicide with wife Lady Joan Downes at the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland,[141] had suffered from increasing hearing impairment, as well as near total blindness, and his wife had terminal cancer.

Charmaine Dragun	2007	Australian television newsreader, jumped off The Gap, an oceanside cliff in Sydney, after a long battle with depression[143]
Dave Duerson	2011	American football player, gunshot,[144] posthumous research of his brain found chronic traumatic encephalopathy after years of concussions in his football career
Clay Duke	2010	American ex-convict, gunshot, opened fire on the Panama City school board during a meeting after his wife, Rebecca, who was a teacher in the school district, was fired. After getting hit by a bullet from a security officer's pistol, Duke collapsed and then used a remaining bullet in his gun to kill himself.[145]
Theresa Duncan	2007	American video game designer, blogger, filmmaker, and critic. Her partner Jeremy Blake also died by suicide. The couple were both being harassed by Scientologists prior to their deaths.
Aleksandr Dolmatov	2013	Russian opposition activist and asylum seeker, undisclosed method.[146] He was found dead by suicide in a deportation centre in the Netherlands, after being denied political asylum, which he was seeking in order to avoid arrest in Russia due to his participation in the 2011-2013 Russian protests.
Denice Denton	2006	American professor of electrical engineering, academic administrator, and ninth chancellor of the University of California, Santa Cruz, jumped 33 stories off of The Paramount.[147] She died by suicide one day after being released from a psychiatric institute, where she had been treated for depression. She had been harassed and threatened a year prior.
