Lumbini Gardens was a public park on the banks of the Nagawara Lake in Bangalore, Karnataka.[1] It contained an eco-friendly boating park and a 12,500 square foot artificial beach and children's pool.,[2][3][4][5] The park has since ceased operations since December of 2019, as the Forest Department of Karnataka hasn't renewed the lease between these parties on the grounds that the operators have polluted the lake.[6]
A bust of yesteryear matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar at Lumbini Gardens on Hebbal Ring Road has mysteriously disappeared.
The Lumbini Gardens Limited will continue to function till the case it has filed in a trial court is disposed or till the authorities decide upon its application for renewal of license.
Lumbini Gardens has now filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking renewal of the agreement for 10 more years. Environmentalists, however, are up in arms against this.
