In 2000, Canada produced the second-most Mg mineral in the world, and by 2011 it produced none.[2] This may have been the result of the toxic sulfur emission SF6 problem, regulated by the Kyoto accord.[3] Many resources exist in south-eastern British Columbia.[4]
A non-exhaustive list of producers in 2000:[3]
China accounts for 85% of Mg production.[7]
