Odd Box Records was a British DIY indiepop record label founded in London. In 2016 it was relocated to Cardiff, Wales. It was hailed as a "big presence on the indiepop scene."[1]

History

[edit]

Odd Box was launched in 2009,[2] after the dissolution of earlier imprint Lost Music Records.[3][4] The label has issued a steady and wide-ranging series of albums, EPs and singles since that time including well-received releases by The Wolfhounds,[5][6] Pocketbooks,[7] Sarandon,[8] The Manhattan Love Suicides,[9] Martha,[10] Joanna Gruesome,[11] The Blanche Hudson Weekend[1] and The Ethical Debating Society,[12] as well as other groups such as The Millipedes,[13] The Humms,[14] The Wednesday Club,[15] One Happy Island,[16] The Monorals,[17] The Smittens,[18] Ace Bushy Striptease,[19] Pale Man Made,[20] Tyrannosaurus Dead,[21] Wolf Girl[22] and Giant Burger.[23]

In 2017 Odd Box released the first in a planned series of EPs by The Darling Buds, featuring their first new material for 25 years,[24] and reissued the debut album by Witching Waves, originally released on Soft Power Records.[25] The label ended in 2019.
