Paula Kruger is an Australian journalist, producer, media manager and trainer. Born in Subiaco and raised in Kalgoorlie, Kruger has worked across media forms including broadcast television, radio, and online.[1] Paula has Australian, Indigenous Fijian, and Indian Fijian heritage.[2]

Kruger graduated from University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Arts in 1992.[3]

Radio

Kruger worked as radio broadcaster and producer in Bangkok, Thailand from 1994 to 1998, during which time she hosted The Retro Show, a music program featuring funk, soul, and disco trash. Kruger was as the tournament announcer for the Bangkok International Rugby 7s between 1997 and 1998.

From 1999 to 2009, Kruger held a series of reporting and producing roles at the ABC, including as a journalist in Sydney before reporting for both radio and television news in Canberra from 2000 to 2002.[1][4][5][6][7] Kruger then returned to Sydney as a TV news reporter from 2002 to 2003, and from 2003 to 2009, worked as a reporter and producer for ABC Radio’s national current affairs programs.

Television

Kruger worked with Zapruder’s Other Films as the Producer and Chief of Staff on Hungry Beast an experimental ABC TV program known for its innovative storytelling.[8] Kruger held this role from August 2009 to April 2010 in Sydney, and this show featured Australian comedians and journalists including Dan Illic, Marc Fennell, Veronica Milsom, and Kirsten Drysdale; supported by Andrew Denton.[8]

Kruger also worked on Annabel Crabb's politics meets cooking show, show Kitchen Cabinet. Cooking segments have often appeared in Kruger's radio work also.[9]

Leadership and management

Kruger was the talent manager at ABC from 2021-2023.[10]

Kruger was the Managing Director of community-based radio station 2SER FM from March 2023 until December 2024. [11]

As of 2025 Kruger is the Chief Executive Officer of Media Diversity Australia.[2]
