TTS Moruga CG 27 is a patrol vessel operated by Trinidad and Tobago.[1][2] It is a Damen Stan 5009 patrol vessel, an innovative design with a Damen Group axe bow. The 5009 in the design indicates that the vessel is 50 metres (160 ft) long and 9 metres (30 ft) wide.
In January 2018 the vessel was used in the burial at sea of George Maxwell Richards, formerly President of Trinidad and Tobago.[3]
The Moruga's first captain was Lieutenant Commander Aldon Jasper.[1]
The two vessels -- TTS Moruga (CG 27) and TTS Carli Bay (CG 28) -- set sail from the Netherlands on Friday morning, with 44 members of the Coast Guard being deployed to bring the vessels to T&T, according to a statement from Coast Guard Public Affairs Officer Lieutenant Sherron Manswell.
The military sector was represented by two Stan Patrol 5009 vessels CG 27 TTS Moruga and CG 28 TTS Carli Bay.
The family of George Maxwell Richards boarded the Coast Guard vessel, the TTS Moruga at the International Waterfront in Port of Spain around 3 pm and went to the Gulf of Paria in view of the San Fernando Hills.
