Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is an upcoming Indian Kannada-language period action-thriller film directed by Geetu Mohandas, produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under the banners of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.[1] The film stars Yash in the lead role, alongside an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Darrell D'Silva, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria.[2]
The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas, known for her critically acclaimed films such as Liar's Dice, India’s official submission for the 2014 Academy Awards and Moothon.[6] It is produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, with Yash also serving as a co-producer.[7][8]
The film was initially planned for theatrical release on April 10, 2025. However, the release has been postponed due to production delays and no new date has been announced as of January 2025 but expected by the end of the year. The film will be released in multiple languages, including Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.[9]
The film was announced on December 8, 2023, on KVN Productions' YouTube channel.[10][11] The first poster of the film was unveiled on January 7, and a first-look teaser was released the following day, on Yash's birthday.[12][13]
In October 2024, the film faced controversy when the Karnataka Forest Department filed a case against the filmmakers for allegedly cutting down over 100 trees in Bengaluru without proper approval.[14] Karnataka's Environment Minister, Eshwar Khandre, instructed authorities to take strict action. The producer has stated that the shooting was conducted on private land with all necessary permissions.[15]
