Viera High School is a public high school located in Viera, Florida, United States. It is part of the Brevard County School District.
It was the fifteenth high school in the district and the first of the 21st Century Classroom schools in the county. The school opened on August 9, 2006, with a student body of 961 and 64 faculty and staff.
The school is located on a 50 acres (20 ha) campus with a student capacity of 2,338.[2] The estimated budget for the project is $46,000,000. H. J. High Construction Company was contracted to design and build the facility.[3]
On August 20, 2023, head coach Shane Staples was fired, and some students suspended, as a result of video depicting simulated sex acts occurring within a player's locker that went viral.[4]
In 2011, students averaged a score of 71 on the advanced-placement examinations, among the highest in the region.[5] The School also provides multiple academic programs:[6]
The school fields teams in 16 different sports including Football, Baseball, Cross Country, and Volleyball.[8] Including two state championships for the girls' golf team in 2010 and 2014.[9]
The girls won the school's 4A state championship in soccer in 2014-15 & again in the 2015-16 season.[10]
In 2017, the football team competes in the 7A class.[11]
Men's Cross Country won 4A State Championship in 2021.[12]
Boys' Soccer won the 6A State Championship in the 2022-2023 season with an undefeated 21-0-1 record. Leaving the boys' soccer team as the only undefeated team in the state. Max May was also named Dairy Farmers Mr Soccer Player of the Year. Max is only the second player to receive this award in Brevard County.[13]
