Vasilije "Šujo" Karadžić was a Montenegrin and Old Herzegovnian hero from the famed Serbian Drobnjaci tribe hailing from the Drobnjak region. The Karadžićs are a brotherhood from Drobnjaci, from Petnjica. Together with Novica Cerović and Mirko Aleksić, he organized the capture and execution of Smail Agha Čengić.[1]According to historical records, Smail Agha Čengić was killed by Mirko Aleksić, but according to folklore, Smail Agha was killed by Šujo Karadžić; but Mirko was faster, so he arrived earlier and cut off his head.[2]
Šujo Karadžić was connected with Karađorđe and led the Drobnjaci in the conquest of Belgrade in the First Serbian Uprising. The Vasojevići tribe also set out to conquer Belgrade with the Drobnjaci.
