Actor

From Wikitia - Reading time: 1 min

An actor is a person who takes on the role of a character in a theatrical performance. A performer who appears "in the flesh" is one who appears in a traditional medium such as the theatre or in a contemporary medium such as cinema, radio, or television The equivalent Greek word is o (hupokrits), which literally translates as "one who responds." The interpretation of a part by an actor, or the art of acting, is relevant to the role performed, regardless of whether the role is based on a real person or a fictitious figure. This may also be referred to as a "actor's part," which was given this name since scrolls were utilised in the theatre at the time. Even when the performer is "playing themself," as is the case in certain types of experimental performance art, interpretation takes place.
