Born in Cremona, Italy, Zanelli started writing poetry and flash fiction in English in the mid-1980s, having learned the language completely as an autodidact.[5]
His poems have appeared in over 200 literary journals in 17 countries,[6][7] though mainly in the USA and in the UK. He has published five collections, two bilingual selections and a chapbook of poetry, which are all included in the Library of Congress (USA),[8] in the British Library (UK)[9] and in the National Poetry Library (UK).[10]
