The American Institution of Beirut (AUB) is a private, autonomous, and non-sectarian university that was founded in New York. Its campus is located in Beirut, Lebanon. The academic offerings of AUB include programmes leading to the degrees of bachelor's, master's, doctor of medicine, and doctor of philosophy. The university is run privately and independently by a board of trustees.
The endowment of AUB is around $768 million, whereas the operational budget at the university is $423 million. There are a total of 64 buildings on the campus, some of which include the American University of Beirut Medical Center (previously known as AUH - American University Hospital) with 420 beds, four libraries, three museums, and seven dorms. Prior to enrolling at AUB, about one-fifth of the student body received their secondary education or degree from an institution located outside of Lebanon. Alumni of AUB may be found living in more than 120 countries throughout the globe. English is the medium of teaching in this course. The institution complies with all requirements set out by the New York Board of Regents in order to register degree recipients.
