    Applied mathematics

From Wikitia - Reading time: 1 min

Mathematics is used in a variety of professions, including physics, engineering, medical, biological research, finance and business as well as information technology and manufacturing. Application mathematics is therefore a blend of mathematical science and specialised expertise in certain fields. Mathematicians who work on practical issues by constructing and researching mathematical models are referred to as "applied mathematics." The word "applied mathematics" also denotes the professional speciality in which they operate.

In the past, practical applications have spurred the creation of mathematical theories, which have now evolved into the topic of study in pure mathematics, where abstract notions are studied for their own sake rather than for their practical applications anymore. As a result, the activity of applied mathematics is inextricably linked to the study in pure mathematics.
