It is the study of aesthetic products and artists in their historical and stylistic context that is known as art history. Tradition has held that the discipline of art history is concerned with the visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, ceramics and decorative arts), but today's art historians are concerned with a broader range of aspects of visual culture, such as the various visual and conceptual outcomes associated with an ever-changing definition of what constitutes art. Art history is the study of things made by various cultures all over the globe and throughout history that transmit meaning, significance, or serve a practical purpose largely via visual representations of their creators' intentions.
