Awan is a small village of 1445 hectares in Sangod Tehsil in Kota district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Awan depends on SANGOD, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 110.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Awan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Awan's pin code is 325602[3], and village code is 03839500. The area of Awan is segregated as 960 hectares irrigated area, 382 hectares unirrigated, the 9 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 94 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Awan has One post office (Anwan B.O) and Sixty public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Awan has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Awan is a census village in the district of Kota, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 4364 and has total administration over 876 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Awan has 605 children, 319 boys and 286 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 679 (15.56%) males constitute 345 (7.91%) of the population and females 334 (7.65%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 38 (0.87%) males constitute 20 (0.46%) of the population and females 18 (0.41%).

According to a census 2011 report, 1963 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 1189 male, 774 female with 887 (45.19%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 721 males and 166 females. 402 males and 78 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 86 male and 55 female agricultural labor. 1076 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SANGOD and Kota to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
