Balwan is a small village of 2057 hectares in Indragarh Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Balwan depends on INDRAGARH, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 8.09% of the total supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Balwan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Balwan's pin code is 323614[3], and village code is 02737600. The area of Balwan is segregated as 38.19 hectares irrigated area, 236.16 hectares unirrigated, the 275.38 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 338.78 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Balwan has One post office (Balban B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Balwan has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Balwan is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1326 and has total administration over 277 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Balwan has 161 children, 86 boys and 75 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 199 (15.01%) males constitute 102 (7.69%) of the population and females 97 (7.32%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 5 (0.38%) males constitute 3 (0.23%) of the population and females 2 (0.15%).

The workforce is 363 male, 166 female with 320 (60.49%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 279 males and 41 females. 69 males and 14 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 45 male and 13 female agricultural labor. 209 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of INDRAGARH and Bundi to sell ghee and make their living.
