Barakhan is a small village of 150 hectares in Beawar Tehsil in Ajmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Barakhan depends on Beawar, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Barakhan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Barakhan's pin code is 305926[4], and village code is 02533200. The area of Barakhan is segregated as 30.21 hectares irrigated area, 18.24 hectares unirrigated, the 49.62 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 51.53 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Barakhan has One post office (Barakhan B.O) and Eight public telephones. The village is connected with a single bus service. Barakhan has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Barakhan is a census village in the district of Ajmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 908 and has total administration over 198 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Barakhan has 147 children, 84 boys and 63 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 127 (13.99%) males constitute 60 (6.61%) of the population and females 67 (7.38%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 11 (1.21%) males constitute 6 (0.66%) of the population and females 5 (0.55%).

The workforce is 213 male, 216 female with 123 (28.67%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 103 males and 20 females. 39 males and 4 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 14 male and 2 female agricultural labor. 306 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Beawar and Ajmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
