Barani is a small village of 323 hectares in Keshoraipatan Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Barani depends on KAPRAIN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Barani is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Barani's pin code is 323803[3], and village code is 02746000. The area of Barani is segregated as 100.13 hectares irrigated area, 29.53 hectares unirrigated, the 70.23 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 122.65 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Barani has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Barani is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 397 and has total administration over 83 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Barani has 62 children, 39 boys and 23 girls.
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 182 (45.84%) males constitute 101 (25.44%) of the population and females 81 (20.40%).

The workforce is 119 male, 113 female with 97 (41.81%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 95 males and 2 females. 90 males are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 1 male. 135 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of KAPRAIN and Bundi to sell ghee and make their living.
