Basni Seja is a small village of 309 hectares in Merta Tehsil in Nagaur district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Basni Seja depends on Merta City, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Basni Seja is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tanker. Basni Seja's pin code is 342902[4], and village code is 01829900. The area of Basni Seja is segregated as 77 hectares irrigated area, 89 hectares unirrigated, the 19 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 124.1 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Basni Seja has One post office (Basni Sejan B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Basni Seja has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Basni Seja is a census village in the district of Nagaur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3023 and has total administration over 560 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Scheduled caste counts for 783 (25.90%) males constitute 405 (13.40%) of the population and females 378 (12.50%).

The workforce is 834 male, 805 female with 1126 (68.7%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 580 males and 546 females. 395 males and 444 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 47 male and 49 female agricultural labor. 513 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Merta City and Nagaur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
