Bennett Rosenthal (born 1963) is an American financier and private equity investor. He is the co-founder of Ares Management Corp. He is also co-chairman of Ares Capital Corporation.[1] He is also the Co-Managing owner of the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC),[2] a Major League Soccer team in the U.S.
Rosenthal started his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert in 1986 in the Financial Institutions Group. He left to join the merchant banking group at Merrill Lynch in 1989.[3] He co-chairs Ares Capital Corporation which went public in 2004.[4] He is co-chair of the Ares Private Equity Group and is a member of the Ares Management Board of Directors which went public in May 2014.[5] [6]
Rosenthal is the Co-managing Owner of the Los Angeles Football Club, a Major League Soccer team.[2] In 2016, Rosenthal and other owners, including Larry Berg and Brandon Beck,[7] took over control from the initial managing owner Henry Nguyen.[8] The team began playing in 2018,[9] and became Major League Soccer’s most valuable franchises;[10] in 2020, the team was valued at $700 million, the most ever for a Major League Soccer Team.[11]
Rosenthal also serves as Chairman of the Board of the LAFC Foundation.[12]
He has been listed on LA500, the Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of most influential LA residents, for four consecutive years (2015-2019).[5]
