Birondem is a small village of 278 hectares in Satari Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Birondem depends on VALPOI, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Birondem is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Birondem's pin code is 403506[5], and village code is 00017400. The area of Birondem is segregated as 4.18 hectares irrigated area, 232.05 hectares unirrigated, the 13.26 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 28.07 hectare area not available for cultivation.

The workforce is 128 male, 100 female with 107 (46.93%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 70 males and 37 females. 6 males and 6 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 2 male and 4 female agricultural labor. 121 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of VALPOI and North Goa to sell coconut and make their living.
