Boston College (BC) is a private, Jesuit research institution located in the Boston suburb of Chestnut Hill. The institution, which was established in 1863, has more than 9,300 full-time undergraduate students and over 5,000 graduate students. Despite the fact that Boston College is designated as an R1 research university, the term "college" is nevertheless included in its name to represent the institution's historical status as a modest liberal arts institution. There are some of the first instances of college gothic architecture in North America on the main campus, which is designated as a historic district and has many historic buildings.

The Eagles are the sports teams that represent Boston College. There are two mascots for this team: Baldwin the Eagle and the Maroon and Gold mascots. The Eagles participate in all sports provided by the Atlantic Coast Conference in NCAA Division I as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Hockey East is a conference in which the men's and women's ice hockey teams play. The men's ice hockey team at Boston College has won five national titles in its history.
