Brew York is a Craft brewery and microbrewery based in York in The United Kingdom.

Brew York produces various types of India pale ale, ales, Stout and spirits in Drink can, keg and Barrel. Their production is split between their original city centre brewhouse and some in their state-of-the-art production facility in the Osbaldwick area of York. Their approach to brewing is to produce the types of Beer which the founders themselves would love to drink. Brew York often experiments with ingredients and styles of beer and usually have at least 20 different fresh beers available.

History[edit]

Founders Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham met at a mutual friend's Bachelor party do and soon began Homebrewing together after sharing their passion for craft beer. Brew York was soon born in Wayne's shed in 2013 and in 2016 a brewery with on-site Bar (establishment) room was built in York City Centre.

In 2020, in order to meet growing demand both domestically and internationally, Brew York expanded their portfolio with the acquisition of a 13,000 sq ft unit in Osbaldwick, York. This move not only helped to create 16 new jobs but it also meant the brewery could immediately increase production capacity from 880,000 pints a year to nearly 4 million pints a year with the scope to comfortably double the output should demand increase further.[1][2]

In 2020, Brew York further expanded their range and opened The Market Tap in Pocklington and Brew York: New Briggate in Leeds[3]

The expansion was funded through the reinvestment of profits, loans and grant-funding which included £200,000 from Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP).[4]

Inspiration for Brew York beers can come from a new Hops|hop or ingredient, a popular cocktail, or a dessert. The names for their beers often feature puns which are inspired by Popular culture, current events[5], films, music, Video game|video games and professional wrestling.
