The British Game Alliance (BGA) is an organisation that promotes and develops the consumption of assured game meat, running an independent assurance scheme.[1] for shoots and game farms in the United Kingdom.
The British Game Alliance Shoot Standards cover the marketing of game and ethical issues, which relate to consumer confidence. The BGA regulate these standards through Lloyd’s Register, the official auditing partner.[2]
The British Game Alliance was set-up in 2018 [3] as not-for-profit game meat marketing board and independent assurance scheme of shoots, game processors and game farms in the United Kingdom.
Shoot members of the British Game Alliance are independently audited by Lloyd’s Register (formerly Acoura), to ensure they meet rigorous welfare and game handling standards.
In 2019, the British Game Alliance launched the Game Farm Audit scheme [4] with a pilot scheme, registering members from January 2020. The scheme is independently audited by Lloyd’s Register and ensures BGA members can demonstrate traceability from ‘egg to plate.’
