Carlton Rodriguez Heard (born August 21, 1993) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is also a former American football player.
Carlton was born in Athens, GA, and was raised by Trina (died 2007)[1][2][3] and David Heard.
(2007 – 2011): Heard attended Clarke Central High School, caught 25 passes for 520 yards and made seven touchdowns. The team's record was 11-1, and they won the Georgia Region 8-AAAA title in 2010.[4][5]
(2011 – 2013): Heard played college football for the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, where he appeared in eight games. During his time with Gardner-Webb, he caught 31 passes for 422 yards, averaging 13.6 yards per catch, and scored one touchdown. He transferred to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2013 to 2015.[6][7]
In 2020, Heard unveiled "The Black Hole," a thought-provoking short film that transcended the ordinary with its compelling exploration of social and existential issues. The narrative follows James, who finds himself trapped in a surreal cycle of repeating the same day, a day marred by the disturbing news of racist police brutality. With each recurrence, the gravity of the events sinks deeper, and James is compelled to delve into history for answers. This riveting cinematic piece not only entertains but also invites its audience into a profound reflection on the cyclical nature of social injustices, prompting a necessary dialogue about our collective history and its lingering impact on the present.[8][9][10][11][12]
