Chara is a small village of 1210 hectares in Raniwara Tehsil in Jalor district, also known as Granite City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chara depends on BHINMAL, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, Two Wells supply, which is 11.00% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chara is also surrounded by Two lakes. Chara is a census village in the district of Jalor, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1649 and has total administration over 285 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

The workforce is 432 male, 394 female with 554 (67.07%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 375 males and 179 females. 215 males and 96 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 22 male and 34 female agricultural labor. 272 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of BHINMAL and Jalor to sell earthen pot and make their living.
