Chardana is a small village of 524 hectares in Keshoraipatan Tehsil in Bundi district, also known as a city of stepwells in the State of Rajasthan, India.[1] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chardana depends on KAPRAIN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[2] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Chardana is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Chardana's pin code is 323301[3], and village code is 02753100. The area of Chardana is segregated as 450.21 hectares irrigated area, 30.59 hectares unirrigated, remaining 42.76 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Chardana has One post office (Chardana B.O). Chardana has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Chardana is a census village in the district of Bundi, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1293 and has total administration over 265 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Chardana has 166 children, 100 boys and 66 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 245 (18.95%) males constitute 132 (10.21%) of the population and females 113 (8.74%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 418 (32.33%) males constitute 217 (16.78%) of the population and females 201 (15.55%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 550 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 322 male, 228 female with 304 (55.27%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 287 males and 17 females. 173 males and 8 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 55 male and 2 female agricultural labor. 246 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of KAPRAIN and Bundi to sell earthen pots and make their living.
