Located in Floyd County in the state of Iowa, the city of Charles City serves as both the county seat and the county municipal complex. As a major economic and transportation hub for the surrounding region, Charles City is a must-see. The city is served by the United States Routes 18 and 218 as well as the Iowa Highway 14 and the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways. The population was 7,396 at the time of the 2020 census, a drop of 5.3 percent from the previous census figure of 7,812 in 2000.
