Chaura is a small village of 2727 hectares in Sanchore Tehsil in Jalor district, also known as Granite City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chaura depends on SANCHORE, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 408.00% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chaura is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Chaura's pin code is 343041[4], and village code is 02326700. The area of Chaura is segregated as 1668 hectares irrigated area, 707 hectares unirrigated, the 196 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 156 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Chaura has One post office (Chora B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Chaura has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Chaura is a census village in the district of Jalor, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 6396 and has total administration over 1184 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Chaura has 1191 children, 645 boys and 546 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 1218 (19.04%) males constitute 635 (9.93%) of the population and females 583 (9.12%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 138 (2.16%) males constitute 73 (1.14%) of the population and females 65 (1.02%).

The workforce is 1848 male, 1715 female with 2694 (75.61%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1601 males and 1093 females. 1293 males and 815 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 167 male and 175 female agricultural labor. 869 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SANCHORE and Jalor to sell ghee and make their living.
