Chelak is a small village of 1133 hectares in Fatehgarh Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chelak depends on JAISALMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chelak is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Chelak's pin code is 345001[4], and village code is 02072200. They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jaisalmer to sell ghee and make their living.
