Chopdem is a small village of 216 hectares in Pernem Tehsil in North Goa district, known and rated to have the best quality of life in India (based on the commission’s “12 Indicators”)[2] in the state of Goa, India.[3] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Chopdem depends on SIOLIM, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[4] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Chopdem is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Chopdem's pin code is 403517[5], and village code is 00002500. The area of Chopdem is segregated as 2.42 hectares irrigated area, 98.82 hectares unirrigated, the 34.03 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 80.59 hectare area not available for cultivation.

According to a census 2011 report, 395 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 288 male, 107 female with 211 (53.42%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 166 males and 45 females. 5 males and 8 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 1 male and 3 female agricultural labor. 184 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.
They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of SIOLIM and North Goa to sell cashew nuts and make their living.
