Civil engineering

Engineers in the field of civil engineering work on projects that affect the physical and naturally built environment. These projects include road and bridge construction, canal and dam construction, airport construction, sewage systems and pipeline construction as well as the structural components of buildings and railway construction. Civil engineers are also known as civil engineers or civil engineers-in-training.

Civil engineering is typically divided into a variety of sub-disciplines, each with its own set of challenges. In engineering, it is regarded to be the second-oldest subject after military engineering, and it is defined in order to differentiate between non-military and military engineering disciplines.
