Columbia University

Columbia Institution (commonly known as Columbia, and formally as Columbia University in the City of New York) is a private Ivy League research university located in New York City. In 1754, on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, Columbia University was founded as King's College. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in New York and the fifth-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. Founded before to the Declaration of Independence, it is one of nine colonial institutions in the United States, with seven of them being members of the Ivy League. Columbia University is consistently rated among the world's best institutions by major education magazines.
