Concordia University is a public research institution that may be found in the city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Concordia University, which was established in 1974 as a result of the merging of Loyola College and Sir George Williams University, is one of the three institutions in Quebec where English is used as the principal medium of teaching. The other two are McGill University and Bishop's University. There were 51,253 students enrolled in credit courses at Concordia Institution as of the academic year 2020–21, placing the university among the biggest in Canada as measured by enrollment numbers. Both the Sir George Williams Campus and the Loyola Campus are located in the borough of Ville Marie in the city of Montreal. The Sir George Williams Campus is the main campus of the university, and it can be found in the Quartier Concordia neighbourhood of Downtown Montreal in the borough of Ville Marie. The Loyola Campus can be found in the residential district of Notre-Dame-de-Grace. Concordia University is home to nearly 400 undergraduate programmes and courses in addition to 200 graduate programmes and courses thanks to its four faculties, school of graduate studies, and other colleges, centres, and institutes.

Concordia University is a non-sectarian and coeducational college that has a global alumni network of over 230,000 people. The university is affiliated with numerous organisations, including the International Association of Universities, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, the Canadian Association of Research Libraries. The varsity teams of the university, who are collectively referred to as the Stingers, take part in competitions hosted by the Quebec Student Sport Federation of U Sports.

In spite of the fact that its founding institutions date back more than 160 years, Concordia University was only established on August 24, 1974, when Loyola College (1896) and Sir George Williams University merged together to create a single educational institution (1926). Concordia University acknowledged that it is situated on unceded Indigenous grounds in a statement released on February 16, 2017.
