    Day spa

From Wikitia - Reading time: 2 min

A day spa is a kind of spa that is open throughout the day and offers a range of services, including massages, facials, and other types of personal care treatments, with the goal of enhancing clients' health, beauty, and sense of relaxation. According to the International Spa Association, the number of day spas in the United States nearly quadrupled in the two years between 2002 and 2004, reaching 8,734. Statista projects that there will be 21,560 spas located across the United States by the year 2020.

A day spa is not the same thing as a beauty salon since in addition to receiving their treatment, customers at a day spa have access to other amenities such as whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and pools.

There is no overnight lodging offered at a day spa, which is another way in which it differs from a destination spa. A destination spa, on the other hand, provides services that are comparable to those found in day spas in the form of all-inclusive packages. These packages may include meals, exercise programmes, instruction on wellness, life coaching, yoga, tai chi, and accommodations in which participants reside for the entirety of their stay. It is also possible for it to serve as a day spa, provided that it welcomes customers who are not staying at the resort as day visitors.

A spa that offers its clients medical spa treatments is referred to as a medspa. Another name for a medspa is a medical spa. Medspas are medical spas that specialise on providing cosmetic procedures such as laser hair removal and medical grade skin therapy. According to the American Med Spa Association, the three treatments that are in highest demand at medical spas are microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, hyaluronic acid fillers (temporary skin fillers like Juvederm), and neuromodulators (such as Botox, which relax facial muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles) (to help with skin tightening and the removal of acne scars). According to one research from the industry, the process of body shaping and contouring accounts for a part of the worldwide medical spa market that is equal to 19 percent.

Although they are run by certified medical experts, they have the appearance and atmosphere of a specialised boutique offering personal services. In the United States, there were 1,600 medspas in operation in 2010 that generated $1.1 billion in revenue (an average of $700,000 per medspa). This number increased to over 5,000 medspas in operation in 2018 that generated $7–8 billion in revenue (an average of $1.4 million per medspa). The percentage of revenue that was retained as profit by medspas in 2018 was 29 percent. It was anticipated that by the year 2023, there will be more than 10,000 medspas. According to one research that was covered by CNBC, the worldwide market for medspa services was expected to reach $25.9 billion by the year 2026. As of April 2022, the United States accounted for 37.7 percent of that market.
