Debasis Bandyopadhyay(b. 5 December 1979 – ) is an Indian Bengali writer noted for his contribution to the genre of Bengali fiction and children's literature. He is a noted contributor to the Bengali juvenile detective adventure fiction with his Tuyatara Group and adventurist DiThi-Kalpyo-Sunreet(দিঠি-কল্প্য-সূনৃত) stories, dealing with the adventure of the Three Musketeers, their mentor assistant Bhubandadu (ভুবনদাদু), and police inspector Punarbasu Mitra(বসুদা). His other famous series is Kaga-Boga (কান্তিক গাঙ্গুলি - বন্ধন গায়েন), a Comic satire fiction which connected with incongruity of our present day social, political and cultural life. Debasis also write several short stories for juvenile readers as well as adult readers in many prominent bengali literary magazine.

Early life[edit]

Debasis was born in Pawnan Village of Hooghly district, West Bengal. He came to live in Chuchura Town from his ancestral village Pawnan after his school education. He studied at the Pawnan Radha Rani High School and completed his B.Tech in Electronics & Tele-communication Engineering Haldia Institute of Technology. Thereafter, he joined in Power Generation Industry as graduate engineer. He presently working at a Public Sector Thermal Power Generation Company.

Creative years[edit]

In 2006, Debasis wrote his first popular short story in widely circulated Bengali literary magazine 'Desh (দেশ)' under Anandabzar Patrika Group. His fictional work get published in all major Bengali Magazine. Debasis wrote his first juvenile novel "Hanabarir Javascript" at "Pujabarshi Anandamela", a mystery and adventure series which introduces the popular character of Dithi,Kalpyo, Sunrit (Three school friend) with their archaeologist grandfather Bhubandadu and Punarbasu Mitra (Basuda, from crime branch of police). These mystery adventure series continues with juvenile novel "Bhagabaner Apan Besh", a mystery connected with ancient Kerala and "Tuyatara" very complex and thrilling adventure mystery connected with myth and cave of Meghalaya.

Debasis created his next very well acclaimed series of Kaga Boga mixing satire, comedy and mystery.

Ranikahini the historical fiction on less known royal story of Bhurishestha Kindom of Bengal during the period of Sixteenth century is one other celebrated work of Debasis.
