Dedha is a small village of 4031 hectares in Jaisalmer Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Dedha depends on JAISALMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Dedha is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Dedha's pin code is 345001[4], and village code is 02036100. The area of Dedha is segregated as 2030 hectares unirrigated, the 1871.28 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 130 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Dedha has One post office (Dedha B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Dedha has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Dedha is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1189 and has total administration over 226 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Dedha has 293 children, 152 boys and 141 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 169 (14.21%) males constitute 94 (7.91%) of the population and females 75 (6.31%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 138 (11.61%) males constitute 72 (6.06%) of the population and females 66 (5.55%).

According to a census 2011 report, 482 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 298 male, 184 female with 279 (57.88%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 268 males and 11 females. 4 males are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 28 males. 203 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jaisalmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
