Didhoo is a small village of 13020 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Didhoo depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Didhoo is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Didhoo's pin code is 345028[4], and village code is 02048500. The area of Didhoo is segregated as 359 hectares unirrigated, the 1878 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 5168 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Didhoo has One post office (Didhu B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Didhoo has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Didhoo is a census village in the district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1730 and has total administration over 263 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Didhoo has 357 children, 186 boys and 171 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 661 (38.21%) males constitute 345 (19.94%) of the population and females 316 (18.27%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 61 (3.53%) males constitute 32 (1.85%) of the population and females 29 (1.68%).

The workforce is 436 male, 384 female with 580 (70.73%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 358 males and 222 females. 262 males and 207 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 3 male and 1 female agricultural labor. 240 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
