Dre DiMura is an American guitarist, writer and Record producer. He is best known for his work with Diamante (musician), and as a creator on TikTok.

He has been featured in Guitar World and Guitar Player Magazine.[1]

Early Life[edit]

DiMura was raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a suburb of New York City. He began playing guitar at age 12; professionally by age 14, at clubs and theaters throughout the New York metropolitan area. He attended the Princeton, New Jersey School of Rock (company) in Trenton, New Jersey.[2] After graduating, DiMura played guitar in several local bands, appearing on Campus radio|college radio, and generating buzz around the Philadelphia club circuit.[3]

Music Career[edit]

Los Angeles[edit]

In 2015, DiMura relocated to Los Angeles to be a session musician. He was hired as an on-camera guitarist, landing parts in TV shows and commercials, and worked with director David Fincher.[4] His first touring gig was with Australian rock band, Evol Walks.[5] He also played bass for Palaye Royale, opening for Metro Station (band) on the Savior tour in late 2016. He released two Extended play with Blues rock trio, Lunar Electric in 2015 and 2017 respectively. The later a visual concept album produced and directed by DiMura. The trio featured DiMura's childhood friend Kaleen Reading, drummer in Noise rock|noise-punk band, Mannequin Pussy.[6]

DiMura released a blindfolded cover of guitarist Eric Johnson (guitarist) instrumental composition, Cliffs of Dover (composition) in 2020. The video was featured in several magazines including Guitar World and Guitar Player.[7] He co-wrote and produced the song Invisible with singer Alexa Villa, which was featured in the Showtime (TV network)|Showtime limited-series, The Comey Rule.[8] After a writing trip in Las Vegas, DiMura released the single Died in Dallas with Periphery (band)|Periphery frontman, Spencer Sotelo at the end of 2020. Diamante[edit]

Since February 2019, DiMura has played guitar for hard rock Singing, Diamante. The band supported Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace and Chevelle (band) on tour during the spring and summer of 2019[10], and released sophomore album American Dream (Diamante album), for which DiMura provided lead guitar, in May 2021.

TikTok[edit]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, DiMura began posting on TikTok and quickly found viral success. He is best known for his POV music videos and content about music theory, Touring (music) and audio production. DiMura created the viral #IEMPOV and #iemchallenge trends.[11] His content has over 5,000,000 likes to date.[12]

Influences & Style[edit]

In a 2017 interview with The Vinyl District, DiMura cited Led Zeppelin guitarist, Jimmy Page, Gypsy jazz manouche guitarist, Django Reinhardt, and saxophonist, John Coltrane as major influences. He was also influenced by English rock bands like Black Sabbath, Cream (band), Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and American jazz singer Frank Sinatra.[13]

Equipment[edit]

DiMura plays Schecter Guitar Research, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation and Gibson guitars. He is endorsed by Ernie Ball, Dunlop Manufacturing and Ultimate Ears.[14] Before 2019, DiMura was often documented using a modified Marshall plexi amplifier.[15] He currently performs live using Schecter Solo-II Customs and a Line 6 (company)|Line 6 Helix Floor Guitar amplifier|digital modeler.
