Engineering is the application of scientific concepts to the design and construction of machines, structures, and other products, such as bridges, tunnels, roads, automobiles, and buildings, among other things. There are many different kinds of engineering disciplines that fall under the umbrella term of engineering. Each field has a more specific focus on various areas of applied mathematics and applied science as well as specific applications and types of applications.

Using scientific principles in a creative manner to design or develop structures, machines, apparatus, or manufacturing processes, or works incorporating them singly or in combination; to construct and operate the same while fully cognizant of their design; or to forecast their behaviour under specific operating conditions; all with consideration for the intended function, the economics of operation, and the safety of people and property.
