Frances Ring (July 4, 1882-January 15, 1951) was an actress and the younger sister of Blanche Ring and Julie Ring who were collectively known as the Ring Sisters.[1] Frances made her debut in Julia Marlowe's Company and performed in Vaudeville with her sister Blanche.[2] She was a granddaughter of the well-known Boston actor James H. Ring of the Boston Museum Stock Company. She was the daughter of James H. Ring, Jr. and Williamina Ross Ring and was born in Boston.[3] [4]Frances had a younger brother Cyril Ring who was also an actor. Her sister Grace Ring was the only non-actor in the family.
Her Internet Broadway Database Credits start in 1903 with "The Bold Sojer Boy" written by Theodore Burt Sayre and finish seven theatre shows later in 1910 with "Get Rich Quick Wallingford" written by George M. Cohan. [5] [6] In 1905 she starred in "Under Cover" a detective play by Roi Cooper Megrue at the Burbank Theatre in California.Photos from her performance in "Miss Patsy" appear in the American Vaudeville Museum Archive.[7]. She met her future husband, actor Thomas Meighan, in 1907 while performing in George Ade's "The College Widow" in London, England.[8] They married in 1909 and would remain so until Thomas Meighan's death in 1936. Mrs. Frances Ring Meighan died January 15, 1951 in Los Angeles.[9]
