Galod is a small village of 749 hectares in Peeplu Tehsil in Tonk district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Galod depends on Tonk, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 572.00% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Galod is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Galod's pin code is 304001[4], and village code is 02611900. The area of Galod is segregated as 572 hectares irrigated area, 3 hectares unirrigated, the 29 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 145 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Galod has One post office (Galod B.O). Galod has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Galod is a census village in the district of Tonk, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1628 and has total administration over 281 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Galod has 222 children, 122 boys and 100 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 217 (13.33%) males constitute 109 (6.70%) of the population and females 108 (6.63%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 23 (1.41%) males constitute 13 (0.80%) of the population and females 10 (0.61%).

Employment[edit]

According to a census 2011 report, 878 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 444 male, 434 female with 686 (78.13%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 397 males and 289 females. 305 males and 259 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 34 male and 18 female agricultural labor. 192 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Tonk to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
