Gangani is a small village of 6038 hectares in Bhopalgarh Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Gangani depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, which is 129.45% of the total supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Gangani is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Gangani's pin code is 342027[4], and village code is 01951000. The area of Gangani is segregated as 129.45 hectares irrigated area, 4802.88 hectares unirrigated, the 420.41 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 685.25 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Gangani has One post office (Gangani B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Gangani has One bank, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Gangani is a census village in the district of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 6467 and has total administration over 1065 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Gangani has 1186 children, 644 boys and 542 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 1084 (16.76%) males constitute 560 (8.66%) of the population and females 524 (8.10%).

The workforce is 1674 male, 1392 female with 1611 (52.54%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 1337 males and 274 females. 624 males and 208 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 27 male and 10 female agricultural labor. 1455 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell shoes and make their living.
