Gara is a small village of 2202 hectares in Shergarh Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Gara depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Gara is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Gara's pin code is 342022[4], and village code is 01985200. The area of Gara is segregated as 2060 hectares unirrigated, the 74 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 68 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Gara has One post office (Garha B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Gara has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Gara is a census village in the district of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3657 and has total administration over 622 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Gara has 711 children, 346 boys and 365 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 1293 (35.36%) males constitute 645 (17.64%) of the population and females 648 (17.72%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 428 (11.70%) males constitute 220 (6.02%) of the population and females 208 (5.69%).

The workforce is 838 male, 351 female with 434 (36.5%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 407 males and 27 females. 36 males and 6 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 1 female agricultural labor. 755 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
