Georgia Walters is an Australian actress in film and television. She is best known for her roles as Billie Alessio in ‘Neighbours’ (2023) and Veronica in "The Spy Who Never Dies" (2022).[1][2]
Early life and education[edit]
Georgia Polmear Walters was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. Her father, Brian Walters AM, was a prominent QC known for his advocacy in the fields of human rights and environmental causes, while her mother, Sally Polmear, worked as a counselor and educator. Walters and her sister, Rachel, were homeschooled for most of their childhood and had the opportunity to travel across Australia and internationally instead of traditional schooling.
At the age of 7, Walters began her involvement in gymnastics, later competing at state and national levels. In 2007, she won first place at the state championships, becoming the Victorian State Level 7 Champion.
At 14, she attended Ivanhoe Girls Grammar School, where she engaged in a range of activities and societies, including drama, literature, athletics, diving, singing, art, photography, politics, and French. In 2007, Walters literary pursuits were recognized with the John Marsden Poetry Award. The same year she was cast as Juliet in the school production of 'Romeo and Juliet,' deepening her interest in theatre. Upon graduating high school her photographic artwork, 'Electricity,' was selected for the prestigious Top Arts exhibition and displayed at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Walters also contributed to charitable causes, notably organizing and performing in the 'Fight against Fistula' charity concert with her peers. Together they raised $37,000 for women in third-world countries. She also participated in the Great Victorian Bike Ride, covering a distance of 600 kilometers.
Walters pursued her higher education at the University of Melbourne, studying a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Sexual Politics and Art History. While she was there she became involved in local theatre productions and eventually auditioned and was accepted into the Full Time Program at the Howard Fine Studio. After graduating she furthered her study with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in their Young Actor's Studio. In 2018, Walters also studied at the renowned Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles. Aside from her acting pursuits, Walters works as a facilitator at the organisation ‘Flourish,’ guiding young women and gender diverse teens through workshops that focus on preventative mental health practices and the cultivation of emotional intelligence.[3]
Career[edit]
In 2013, Walters started her acting career, playing Alice in the 24-minute short film "Sugarplum" produced by Australian company Dioscuri Films and directed by Geoffrey Wright (Romper Stomper). From here she did a range of short films and pilots before landing her first lead role in 2016 as Jessie in the Australian independent feature ‘Night Shift.’[4][5]
In 2020 she was cast as the female lead ‘Veronica’ in the Stan action comedy ‘The Spy Who Never Dies’ spending much of that year filming in Sydney between lockdowns. Upon its launch in 2022 the film received mixed reviews, however Walters' dynamic performance was singled out as "particularly brilliant."[6][7][8]
In 2023, she was cast as Billie Alessio in the highly anticipated reboot of the classic Aussie Soap 'Neighbours.' That same year she played ‘Lucy’ in the Harpy Film short ‘Forest.’[9]
