Ghalkiya is a small village of 550 hectares in Banswara Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Ghalkiya depends on Banswara, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, One canal and Two springs. Ghalkiya is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Ghalkiya's pin code is 327001[4], and village code is 03425600. The area of Ghalkiya is segregated as 252 hectares irrigated area, 138 hectares unirrigated, the 129 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 31 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Ghalkiya has One post office (Galkiya B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Ghalkiya has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Ghalkiya is a census village in the district of Banswara, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 2606 and has total administration over 502 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Ghalkiya has 479 children, 234 boys and 245 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 255 (9.79%) males constitute 128 (4.91%) of the population and females 127 (4.87%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 1503 (57.67%) males constitute 732 (28.09%) of the population and females 771 (29.59%).

According to a census 2011 report, 1532 people of the total population are employed. The workforce is 763 male, 769 female with 925 (60.38%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 643 males and 282 females. 297 males and 204 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 24 male and 28 female agricultural labor. 607 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Banswara to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
