Gordon Botterill (born 23 November 1997) is a Swiss professional association football player who plays for Queen of the South as a goalkeeper.[1]
The son of Alistair and Barbara Botterill, he has one sibling, Kate. Although born in Germany, his hometown was Vandœuvres, Switzerland. He attended Ecole Internationale de Geneve in Geneva, Switzerland. After graduating from Fairfield University, Botterill attended the University of California, Irvine to study a Masters of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He speaks German, French, Spanish and English. He was a youth footballer for FC Saint Paul, Servette FC, and Chelsea FC before relocating to the United States in 2017.[2][3]
Botterill played for Fairfield in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He played five games for AC Connecticut in USL League Two in 2018. He joined Reading United in 2019.[4][5]
He joined Queen of the South in January 2023.[6] He made his debut on 11 March 2023 in Scottish League One against Clyde F.C. in a 1-1 draw.[7] By the end of the 2022-23 season he had started three matches. In May 2023 he signed a new one-year contract with the club.[8]
