Gura is a small village of 1917 hectares in Siwana Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Gura depends on BALOTRA, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, which is 284.92% of the total supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Gura is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Gura's pin code is 344044[4], and village code is 02158500. The area of Gura is segregated as 407.25 hectares irrigated area, 631.1 hectares unirrigated, the 518.19 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 179.49 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Gura has One post office (Gudanal B.O) and One public telephone. The village is connected with a single bus service. Gura has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

The village has an uninterrupted 24 hours electric supply from a power grid.

Demographics[edit]

Gura is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 3155 and has total administration over 503 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

  • Gura has 524 children, 264 boys and 260 girls.
  • Scheduled caste counts for 517 (16.39%) males constitute 278 (8.81%) of the population and females 239 (7.58%).
  • Scheduled tribe counts for 102 (3.23%) males constitute 51 (1.62%) of the population and females 51 (1.62%).

The workforce is 907 male, 707 female with 1433 (88.79%) of all workers being employed full-time, this includes 882 males and 551 females. 683 males and 449 females are considered as the main cultivators with the help of 21 male and 17 female agricultural labor. 181 people are reported to work for a marginal period of time in the year.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of BALOTRA and Barmer to sell wood furniture and make their living.
